Job overview
In order to ensure that diving being conducted by the company at global locations was compliant with UK HSE & IMCA, the task was to implement a robust Diving Safety Management System (DSMS). It was essential that this DSMS also linked in seamlessly with the already complex Corporate Quality Management System. IMCA was used as the bench mark and a working group was established to drive the implementation at each global location; UK, Europe, Middle East and South East Asia. Weekly conference calls enabled a project tracker to be updated. Weekly targets were discussed and agreed. Within three months the DSMS was effective and in place. The committee and DSMS remains extant five years later.
Key tasks
Review of extant corporate processes & procedures to initiate implementation of a diving safety management system suitable to support worldwide operations.
Review all existing documentation, risk assessments and method statements to ensure ‘fit for purpose’.
Select and implement suitable qualified and experienced (SQEP) board for internal review and subsequent annual review.
